Shopping has changed and so have shopping centers. The post-war strip centers with parking infront and curb cuts at either end are sooo last century. But even in an age of online retail, shoppingcenters serve an important economic and social function, and good design canhelp. So, for the past year, Cranberry’sPlanning and Development Services Department has worked on updating theTownship’s zoning ordinance’s shopping center stipulations. Its goal: to make shopping centers moreattractive, more pedestrian-friendly, and better connected to adjacentproperties. At its March 1 meeting,Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors officially adopted the new ordinance.
